Interaction

Interaction Based on the activity I explored in the blog Just Have Fun with English , I chose to focus on Edpuzzle as the most interesting and engaging activity. Edpuzzle allows students to watch a video and interact with it by answering questions or responding to prompts during playback, making it a great tool for active learning. Final Task for the Class: I will create a task where students have to look for a video related to one of the grammatical contents studied this year in our English lessons (for example, the future tense or the first conditional).  Students will work in pairs or in groups of three. Once they have been divided into groups, they will have to choose one of the grammatical contents studied in class during this year.  When all groups have their topics, they will have to look for an appropiate video and create questions for their partners to answers. They must be related to the topic they are dealing with. The goal of this task is to reinforce the student...

Project: Designing a game

Project unit 4: Designing a game (2º ESO) Over the past few weeks, my 2º ESO students have embarked on a project: designing their own board games! This initiative aimed to develop their creativity, collaboration, and language skills while incorporating elements of strategic thinking and problem-solving.  The project has been done to evaluate the contents studied in unit 4 where they have studied vocabulary relanted to games and grammar focused on modal verbs and adverbs.  Project Stages To ensure a structured approach, the project followed a series of stages: Choosing the Topic and Forming Groups – Students are dividied into groups 3 or into couples. Then, they are explained the topic of the project and its development. Then, students brainstormed potential board game ideas and were assigned to groups based on their interests and strengths. Selecting the Format and Tools – Each group decided whether they would design their game physically or digitally, using platforms...

A Time Line with TimeToast This week, my students engaged in an exciting activity where they created a timeline about the life of someone they admire. This activity aimed to enhance their research and presentation skills while reinforcing their understanding of chronological order. Learning Objectives The primary goals of this activity were: To develop students’ ability to research and organize biographical information. To improve their writing skills by summarizing key events concisely. To enhance the use of digital tools for presenting information. To use the vocabulary and grammar studied in the unit.  Advantages of Using TimeToast TimeToast proved to be an excellent tool for this activity. This tool allowed the students create and edit timelines easily. Moreover, the tool provides a clear visual representation of the events in the life of a person, helping them understand some concepts better. It has also been a different way to work on the writing skill in class. I used ...

Working on writing with Storyjumper

Working on writing with Storyjumper Using Storyjumpler to Encourage Creativity and Collaboration in the Classroom This week we had to work on writing skills so, I decided to use Storyjumper, an engaging comic creation tool, to help my students develop both their creative and English language skills. We tried to use Pixton but we were told to pay to use it and we found no way to access the free trial, as explained in the course. The task was part of the unit and, instead of doing the typical activity I do in class, I decided to use this tool to reinforce language structures and encourage imagination. Here’s how I organized the activity and reflected on its impact. This activity has been done with a group of students in 1º ESO.  How did you organize the groups? I divided the class into small groups of three to four students. This allowed for collaboration while ensuring that everyone had a chance to participate actively. I made sure the groups were diverse in terms of la...

EDPUZZLe Edpuzzle is a powerful tool for making video-based learning more interactive and engaging. It's an interesting and useful tools to practice the language in class using authentic material. I often use it in my classes as these videos are more engaging than traditional lectures and having interactive questions make students be more focused on the topic we are dealing with. Also, it reinforces comprehension while watching.  I have recently used this tool with my students of 2º ESO . They are learning about modal verbs, specifically CAN and COULD , and as they have a good level I've introduced them BE ABLE TO . So, first of all, I have sequenced the activities we will do to work in this contents: - For the pre-task, we have done a brainstorming session about modal verbs and their functions. They have already studied them so, it is a way to check how much they remember. Also, at home, they have watch a short video about them so they can familiarize with the concepts stu...

"Reflect on Reading habits"

"Reflect on Reading habits" Looking at these pictures, I realize how my reading habits have changed over time. Reading has always been an important part of my life but, in the same way we can see in the pictures, the way I engage with books has changed significantly over the years. From childhood, when my reading choices were largely influenced by my parents or teachers, to adulthood, when I finally have the freedom to explore literature on my own terms, my journey as a reader has been one of both growth and discovery. Looking at the pictures, I particularly relate to the second and third images. The second photograph, which depicts an adult guiding a child through a book, reminds me of my early experiences as a reader in Spanish. Like many children, I started reading with the help of my parents and teachers, who introduced me to books that nurtured my curiosity and comprehension skills. Over time, as I gained independence, I developed a taste for thrillers in Spanish, dr...
